Deliverable 3.2: Specifications of the control strategies and the simulation test cases

Deliverable 3.2 was released officially at the end of March. It is part of Work Package 3 “Wind Turbine – Converter Interaction”, which has main objective as to identify and specify appropriate analyses and tests to demonstrate the interoperability of wind turbine and wind power plant controls with two different types of HVDC systems: diode rectifiers and VSC converters respectively to connect the wind power plants to the DC network.

D 3.2 covers the specifications of control strategies and definition of test cases. For this purpose it has been split up into two parts: the first part contains detailed specifications and requirements for the control of wind turbines and offshore wind farms. The second part of the deliverable describes the simulation test cases and is divided into the subsections ‘normal operation’, ‘fault operation’ and ‘ancillary services’.

The identified and presented test cases consider different levels of modelling detail for the involved parts in diode rectifier-connected point-to-point topologies to reduce the simulation burden. Each test case suggests a modelling detail as a guideline, which will be used as starting point for compliance simulation as well.

The presented cases in this deliverable will be updated later on in the project, once the different controllers are developed and the results from the test cases become available. Deliverable 3.2 is now available for download below.
