WELCOME TO PROMOTioN's FINAL CONFERENCE

At the end of September, PROMOTioN, as the biggest energy project in the EU’s Horizon 2020 Research Program, will come to an end. Over the course of 4.5 years, 34 partners from 11 countries worked on questions regarding the future evolution of Europe’s offshore energy grid, combining expertise from manufacturers, suppliers, TSOs, offshore wind developers as well as leading academic and consulting institutions. The project took a holistic approach in addressing design, development, and deployment of the EU’s energy infrastructure from a technical, financial, regulatory, managerial, and policy perspective.

We are now happy to share the insights and conclusions gained from PROMOTioN during our final online conference titled "North Sea Grid for the European Green Deal", originally planned as a physical event in May 2020, but moved into the digital realm due to COVID-19 measures.

ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

Beginning August 24th, we will kick of the event series with a broadcast of our session at the CIGRE 2020 digital event. Following this event, we continue with a set of breakout sessions that take a closer look at the work done in PROMOTioN’s different work packages over the course of three weeks. Each week will be dedicated to a certain theme and will feature a set of pre-recorded talks on the said subject. Talks will be made available every Monday, giving attendees the opportunity to browse the content on their own time while providing background for a live Q&A session dedicated to the respective topic every Friday.

On September 21st, the main conference day, we will bring the different puzzle pieces together and look into the future of MOGs with a live online event. Reports from the previous breakout sessions will set the stage that day and lead to a live panel discussion, where we invite high-level representatives from our partner institutions to discuss the lessons learned from PROMOTioN and the ways forward in developing a MOG in the European context.
